Kim Smith

Kim Smith
:::
Illustrator and character designer

Kim Smith recently graduated with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications from the Alberta College of Art and Design. She specialized in character design.
She is interested in sculpting and working with 3D materials, photography (portraiture),and web design. These processes reflect in her work.
Her wonderful imaginative designs have a beautiful and sophisticated style all of her own and wouldn't look out of place in children's books and imaginative poster design.

Her work blows me away its not really my style but its just so pretty.

The work is drawn and then constructed and coloured digitally.

Speaking to Kim Smith will shed a little more light on her process and concepts as I find her concept design beautiful, every little element is considered and is style reflective, this is what adds the sophistication to her work. Even when working with different media she manages to bring her concept and style together and her illustrations communicate their message very well.
Also regarding industry, as she is a fairly new illustrator I will hopefully gain valuable information about being a young graduate in my position, like 'what to do next'?!
